Why should I give up my time to listen to this “Resilience” thing?
Well, sir/ma'am, let me share with you how resilience makes your teammates better and how that makes them better at the job. This claim is supported by the likes of Auschwitz survivor and psychologist Viktor Frankl, American Psychological Association president Marty Seligman and tech giant, philanthropist Bill Gates, the US Army, Harvard, University of Pennsylvania, Berkley, Yale, Stanford, not to mention the wisdom of the past from Buddha, Jesus, Marcus Arilieus, Gandhi. In the words of distinguished Yale University psychology professor, Dr. Woo-Kyoung Ahn, “From both research that has stood the test of time as well as the latest research from the field”. Both new and old are very important, as stated by Narnia author and Oxford Don, C.S. Lewis, in God in the Dock, “read one old [book] one to every three new ones. A new book is still on its trial and the amateur is not in a position to judge it. It has to be tested against the great body of thought down the ages, and all its hidden implications. Books of the future would be just as good a corrective as the books of the past, but unfortunately we cannot get at them.” So, from the old and the new, here is WHY it would be of benefit to dedicate time to “Resilience Skills Training”.
